Luna
I'm past curfew but I know they've already gone to bed so I linger in the yard a little longer. Magic fills the midnight air – a deep sky with a blanket of stars but one stands out as bigger, brighter, bolder as if it has something to say. I'm here, see me, hear me, admire me.
Luna whispers as she speaks to me, "You are not alone mija, We are of the same matter and we matter. One day you will know, until then look at me. I will remind you."
Sitting atop the brick fence, head tilted upwards, entranced, I barely hear the creak of the screen door. "Get in here young lady before you catch a cold."
"Goodnight moon," I whisper back and run inside.
